Race Weekend
Today we're using your race weekend practice to lock in your focus and prime your instincts. Let's find a comfortable seat. Spine tall, shoulders soft, and close your eyes. We'll begin with a simple box breath just to settle the nervous system. Inhale for four... hold for four... exhale for four... hold for four. After three rounds, release the counting and let your breath return to normal.
Before you dive into your silent meditation, let's bring your senses online. Right now, visualize the environment. Smell the oil, the tires, and the heat coming off the tarmac. Hear the roar of the engines and feel those deep vibrations humming through your chest.
Now feel yourself strapped into the car. Feel the heavy weight of your body deep in the seat, your feet touching the pedals, and your hands gripping the wheel. Run the track in your mind. As you turn, feel the weight distribution. Trust that your reactions are so fast you don't even have a chance to think about them—your body already knows exactly what to do.
See yourself crossing the finish line, pulling back into the pits, hearing the applause, and feeling the celebratory high fives. Hold that feeling of victory in your awareness.
Now, I am going to leave you here to introduce your mantra. Repeat it silently in your mind with no rhythm, no effort, and no forcing. Simply do less. If you drift into thought, that's natural. When you notice, gently return your attention back to your mantra. I'm going to step away so you can get off your screen, set your own timer, and meditate for as long as your session requires today. When your timer goes off, sit quietly for a moment to allow the dust to settle before opening your eyes. Give yourself permission to do less and trust your instincts.
